JULIAN’S STORY

Upon graduating from a degree in Architecture, I decided to venture on a different path and started my fitness coaching journey as a qualified personal trainer from the AIF (Australian Institute of Fitness) in 2015. 

After 5+ years working with different gyms such as Fitness First, Fitness Playground, Snap Fitness, G Fitness and Club Lime, it came to realisation that I wanted to pursue coaching in two of my life passions: basketball and strength & conditioning. Whilst under the NSW lockdown in 2021, I started Hoops Sports Performance with a focus on building long-term athletic development for junior basketball athletes. 

During my growth as a personal trainer, I heavily invested into coaching education and experience to provide the highest value that I can give for all athletes. Combining my further education from industry leaders such as Australian Strength and Conditioning Association, EXOS, ALTIS, and industry experience from Ethos Performance, Edge Performance and Athletes Authority, it all has elevated my standard to deliver high quality coaching services to all athletes. 

On the basketball side, I became a NSW Basketball coach in 2020, where I was an assistant coach for the West Sydney Wolves and volunteered in the NSW State Performance Program under SPB International. During my time there, I came to realise that strength and conditioning needs a bigger push for young athletes to maximise overall performance as it is just as important as technical and tactical sport development.

As a coach, my principles and goals are to develop the entire athlete and person, from the physical, right through to the mental and emotional side of long term athletic development. In the future, I look forward to working with all junior, semi-pro and pro athletes in all sports.  

Apart from coaching, I love to read books, watch the NBA & NFL, eat out, drink coffee (too much), be around nature, and, of course lift and shoot hoops!

·      Basketball NSW Coach (Level 1 & 2)

·      Cert III and IV Personal Trainer (AIF) 

·      EXOS Performance Specialist

·      ALTIS Speed Coach (Need for Speed)

·      FMS (Level 1)

·      RPR (Level 1)

·      Precision Nutrition (Level 1)

·      First Aid & CPR Certified

·      Working with Children’s Check

·      5+ years Experience in Industry
