KARLA MANANSALA
S&C COACH
KARLA’S STORY
Growing up I was always an active kid playing many different sports where I eventually stumbled across my passion for basketball. Since then, fitness will always be a major part of my life whether that be going to the gym or playing basketball as it continuously drives me to improve myself, show up, and reap the benefits whilst being around great people. Finishing high school, I had developed a keen interest in sport science and human movement, particularly injury rehabilitation. I have recently graduated with a Bachelor's of Sport and Exercise Science at UTS and will be commencing my Masters of Physiotherapy at USYD to be concluded in 2024.
In 2022, I wanted to bridge gaps in my knowledge in the strength and conditioning field and sought placement at Trinity Grammar School and also became a part of the first batch of interns at Hoops as an S&C assistant. I also occasionally volunteer my time to shadow sports physiotherapists to continuously learn in hopes I can teach what I learn to others. I have also completed my Sports Trainer Level 1 with Sports Medicine Australia which allows me to tape and assist in acute injury management.
As a former athlete myself playing reps and representing UTS in the University Basketball League, I understand the importance of strength and conditioning on athlete performance and injury management. I want to assist those in a similar position as I was and become a great coach and mentor to develop athletes in all areas, giving back all the knowledge that I have received.
Outside the gym and basketball, I love finding cool hangout spots with my friends, watching movies, and playing games on the PC.
