Basketball is the top choice of sport amongst young people of NSW participating in School Sports Programs and we want to help our hoopers with the educational foundation for their favourite game. This article will discuss the Pre-Season Essentials in terms of athletic development for the game of basketball.
1. Pre-season Preparation
This is the time when a player goes through testing of current levels of athletic performances to understand gaps, stengths and limitations. At Hoops, we offer a FREE initial testing for every individual who joins our community.
It is important to prepare your body for the game of basketball and engage in the sport specific strength and conditioning. At Hoops, we help you identify, analyze and achieve your specific goals through a well thought process.
The training programs we make for our athletes help in the holistic development of your mind as an athlete. It can act as a preventive mechanism against most common basketball related injuries and prepare you as a seasoned hooper. It takes into account your nutrition, rest and recovery, physical conditioning, psychological factors and of course your game skills.
Our free initial test has been devised carefully after keeping principles of physiotheraphy and athletic exposure in mind. We want to grow our community of hoopers with passion and care.
2. Strength & Conditioning
At Hoops, we cater to individual sports needs via a semi-private program to maximise your athleticism and performance. We have a team of experienced and qualified strength and conditioning coaches. We develop our programs specific to our athlete’s needs which would also up your overall game performance. These include but are not limited to:

The purpose of designing a strength and conditioning program is to cater to the specific need of the hooper. When this program is designed keeping in mind your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and limitations , the results are better.

Breaking down the basketball game into off-court and on-court training allows us to help maximise micro level of coaching and is a must if you want to excel in your game.
• Consistency
When you are consistent and continue to work on your game over a long period of time, results are inevitable.
3. Getting to peak performance
Our dedicated coaches help you get to your peak athleticism. We put in our efforts to ensure you play the game, you trained for. Getting to peak performance, is not limited to the physical aspects of game but also cover your overall ability to push and rise above your limitations. 4. Training Methods to ensure maximum athleticism

2. WEEKLY SCHEDULE & NUTRITIONAL GOALS SETTING
We will understand your goals, strengths and limitations and our team will develop and share the plans accordingly.
3. BODY COMPOSITION
The body composition test will include scientific testing principles that are thoroughly thought for an athlete so that you can see your own progress over time.
4. MOVEMENT AND INJURY SCREENING
We will assess kinds of movement and study your previous injuries or areas that can be easily injured as per your body type. One of our primary goal is to ensure our hoopers are pain free and injury free round the year!
5. STRENGTH AND POWER TESTING
Timely testing and comparing your own results help us assess your growth and journey. You can utilise this as well to study your own journey. Remember, your biggest competition is you.
6. SPEED AND AGILITY TESTING
Acceleration and De-acceleration are important parts of athletic performance. Even in the game of basketball, your ability to generate speed, stop and reproduce the speed again is all crucial for the game.
7. CONDITIONING TESTING
This refers to basketball specific on-court and off-court drills to develop strength in the basic basketball skillset that every player needs.
